Job 5:12: “He frustrates the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot carry out their plans.” Isaiah 54:15, God reassures us, “Surely they shall gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.”
The peace of God is a powerful force that can keep you, your family, and everything that concerns you in a state of calm. It’s a peace that transcends circumstances, ensuring serenity within and around you, even when the world around you is being consumed by turmoil.
It’s as though you are surrounded by a divine bubble, securely held in the palm of God. His angels are assigned to protect you, ensuring that peace surrounds you externally. Even when your enemies gather, because they inevitably will, you can rest in the assurance that their plans will not prevail. I once heard Andrew Wommack say, “If you don’t bump into the devil, or he doesn’t bump into you, then you’re probably heading in the same direction.”
The Power of Peace in Solomon’s Reign
I remember reading about the early years of Solomon’s reign in the Bible and being struck by the peace he enjoyed. It was especially remarkable considering that not long before his time, there had been constant war. In fact, the reason David was not allowed to build the temple of the Lord was because of the bloodshed he had caused through the many wars he fought and won. God said to David in 1 Chronicles 28:3, “You are not to build a house for my Name, because you are a warrior and have shed blood.” Yet, here was his son, Solomon, reigning in complete peace. He likely would have continued to enjoy that peace if not for being led astray by his many wives, concubines, and their idols (1 Kings 11:1-8).
Scripture tells us that God granted Solomon peace on all sides. 1 Kings 4:24 says, “Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the Euphrates River to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt. These countries brought tribute and were Solomon’s subjects all his life.” Even if it wasn’t stated explicitly, how else can we explain that no nation rose up against him? Instead, nations brought him gifts from far and wide, as though they all sought to stay on his good side. 1 Kings 10:24 says: “And the people of the world admired him, as they saw the wisdom God had given him.”
It was obvious there was a powerful force at work on Solomon’s side, keeping the peace and preventing any enemy from rising against Solomon. Even if other nations had considered it, God’s promise of peace would have frustrated their plans. In Psalm 33:10-11, it says, “The Lord foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.” Isaiah 8:10 says, “Devise your strategy, but it will be thwarted; propose your plan, but it will not stand, for God is with us.” God blessed Solomon with peace, making his reign one of prosperity and security.
In times of trouble and uncertainty, you can take comfort in the unshakable peace that God offers. Just as He surrounded Solomon with peace, He does the same for you today. God’s peace isn’t just a fleeting emotion; it is a divine shield, a force that protects and guards you in the most turbulent of times. When you trust in His promises and let His peace reign in your heart, you can rest in the assurance that no weapon formed against you will prosper. No matter what comes your way, God’s peace transcends it all, bringing you calm and strength. In the end, you are not fighting alone, God’s peace goes before you, protecting you, guiding you, and ensuring that His purposes for your life will stand firm.
