Come
Let us settle this once and for all.
Speak, beloved.
What is your case against me?
You say I am unfair.
You say I have loved you,
Yet you claim I have turned away.
But look at me!
Look at the blood and water that poured from my side!
Look at my feet, crushed and bruised!
Look at the lashes that tore my back apart!
Look at the nails that held me on a tree, for you!
Feel it.
Feel the pain I bore.
Feel the agony that wracked my soul.
Feel the weight of sin I carried.
Feel the loneliness of my last breath.
I took it all for you.
How much more can I love you?
Do you not see it, even now?
I stood in your place.
I bore your shame.
I carried your curse.
I endured your judgment.
I swallowed your guilt.
I took your sickness and disease.
I tasted your death.
And yet
You still doubt my love?
You still wonder if I care?
I rewrote your destiny.
I made you whole.
I purified you.
I changed your name.
Through me, you became a son, grafted into the family,
no longer a stranger, no longer orphaned.
Yet, I would do it all again
For my love for you knows no limits.
If only you would believe….
I did it all for you.
Tell me, beloved,
What more must a man do
To prove his love for his bride?
