185 | Hidden Battles: When a Lion Sees Only a Cat

“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” (2 Corinthians 3:18)

“I Believe God Has Called Me, But I Feel Inadequate”

There is a lion who looks in the mirror and sees only a house cat.
He’s robed in glory to every watchful eye; yet before his reflection, he whispers, “Only rags.

Everyone around him sees strength, majesty, and calling, a crown upon his head, a robe of purple, and garments laced with beauty.
They point from a mile away and say, There he is, the one God has anointed.
But he? He sees only rags.
He hears only the hum of inadequacy.

Tthis is the secret many carry in silence: the battle between God’s calling and internal unbelief.

Tucked away in the corners of society are gems that never shine, petals that never bloom, and stars that never rise, not because they weren’t called, but because they didn’t believe they could.
They saw the assignment but not the backing.
They saw the crown but not the King who placed it.

But here is today’s truth: You do not need to trust in yourself to do God’s will. You only need to trust the One who called you.

Think of it like this: when you ask a child to run an errand, say to buy a bottle of water, that child doesn’t worry about provision. Even if you haven’t handed them money, they assume, in childlike faith, that you’ve made arrangements. Maybe you called the shop ahead. Maybe you have an agreement with the seller. Whatever it is, the child rests because they trust you.

This is why Jesus said the Kingdom belongs to such as these (Luke 18:16). Children don’t over-analyze. They don’t sit down calculating the odds of success or the strength of their own ability. They simply go and that’s what God is looking for.

Moses was a stammering Shepard, what we call herdsmen today, hiding in the wilderness (Exodus 4:10).
Jeremiah protested, “I am only a child” (Jeremiah 1:6).
Gideon called himself the weakest in his family and tribe (Judges 6:15).
Deborah was a woman in a patriarchal world, but she ed Israel into battle and they won! (Judges 4).

Each of them felt inadequate. And yet each of them went.
They did not go in their own strength. They went in the might of the Lord.

1 Corinthians 1:26–29:
“Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things and the things that are not, to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.”

God calls.
God equips.
God provides.

All He asks of you is this: Go.

So if you’re standing at the edge of your calling, trembling and unsure, remember this , God never calls the qualified. He qualifies the called.

Just go.
