Day 55 | Can God Trust You Like He Trusted Abraham? | (Two Genders)

God created humanity in two distinct genders, male and female, and each of us is designed to embrace the identity He has given us. The purpose of this message is to remind us of this crucial truth, one that seems to be fading in today’s “woke” generation. Thankfully, in Nigeria, this issue is still recognized as a sin and not openly accepted. However, in more liberal countries, it has become normalized to the extent that they have associations that defend and promote this lifestyle.

For Nigerians who are planning to relocate or are already living in such environments, it is vital to be deeply rooted in God’s truth and firm in His stance on this issue. This ensures that you can pass on your convictions to your children and teach others to do the same.

Paul urged Timothy to continue in the truth he had learned, knowing the source of his teachings. 2 Timothy 3:14-15 says: “But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.”

2 Timothy 1:5 reveals that Timothy’s grandmother, Lois, and his mother, Eunice, taught him godly principles and set him on the right path. This highlights the sacred responsibility of parents to know the truth and pass it on to future generations.

One of the reasons God trusted Abraham was because He knew Abraham would teach his children and household about Him. Genesis 18:19 says: “For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him”.

This calling to parents and guardians is again reinforced in Deuteronomy 6:6-7: “And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise.”

God is looking for parents who will uphold His truth and raise godly children, even in a world that seeks to redefine His standards. Can He trust you to be one of them?

God in His perfect wisdom created only two genders: male and female. This truth is evident in nature. Under normal circumstances and without external interference, every human being is born with either male or female reproductive organs. These two genders alone have the capacity to come together and bring forth new life, ensuring that humanity continues according to God’s design.

A male cannot reproduce with another male and neither can a female with another female. God established this order from the very beginning. Genesis 5:2 says: “Male and female created He them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created. He gave them a specific command when He blessed them: Be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” (Genesis 1:28).

God did not give this command to Adam and the animals nor did He give it to Eve and the animals. Instead, He made it clear that fruitfulness and multiplication were to happen through the union of Adams and Eve (man and woman.)

Even before the command to multiply, God established the need for a suitable partner for Adam. Despite being surrounded by animals, Adam was still alone in a way that only another human could complete. So God created Eve, a woman, to be his helpmeet (Genesis 2:18-22). Eve was the perfect companion for Adam, not another man and certainly not an animal.

The very fact that the earth is filled with people today is proof that the first Adam and Eve obeyed God’s command. Neither Adam nor Eve could procreate alone. The only exception to this natural order was the miraculous birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, who was born incorruptible, free from the corruption of sin.

God’s design is clear. He made male and female to complement one another, to be fruitful, and to multiply. Any deviation from this truth is a distortion of His original plan and blatant disobedience.

I believe that sexual sins were among the many transgressions that provoked God’s judgment upon humanity, leading to the great flood that wiped out the entire human race, sparing only Noah and his family. Genesis 6:5-6 says: “And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.” The depth of human corruption was so severe that God was determined to cleanse the earth. Jude 1:7 confirms that sexual immorality and unnatural desires played a significant role in divine judgment when he said: “Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.”

If you or anyone experiences the desire to be the opposite sex, be with the same sex, or feel dissatisfaction with your God-given gender, know that this is an evil influence that must be confronted through prayer and the truth of God’s Word.

After the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt, God established laws and commands to govern them. Though these laws were initially given to the Israelites, they are also relevant to us today, as we identify as the seed of Abraham. The very fact that God made provisions for these laws suggests that such sinful acts were common among humanity and were likely practiced in Egypt or neighboring nations. God could not allow His people to be influenced by such practices or for such practices to be found among them. It was such a serious sin that the punishment for anyone who broke this law was death!

Some of the laws given specifically forbids homosexuality and bestiality.

Leviticus 18:22: “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.”

Leviticus 20:13: “If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.”

Exodus 22:19: “Whoever lies with an animal shall surely be put to death.”

Leviticus 18:23: “And you shall not lie with any animal and so make yourself unclean with it, neither shall any woman give herself to an animal to lie with it: it is perversion.”

Leviticus 20:15-16: “If a man lies with an animal, he shall surely be put to death, and you shall kill the animal. If a woman approaches any animal and lies with it, you shall kill the woman and the animal; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.”

Deuteronomy 27:21: “Cursed be anyone who lies with any kind of animal. And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’”

You see, these laws were first established as natural laws, observable in creation, before they were formally written as part of God’s commandments. After all, how can a child be born except through the union of a man and a woman? In legal jurisprudence, natural law is recognized as one of the sources of man-made laws. It is rooted in human reason and an inherent sense of right and wrong that is embedded in every individual. This means that people can discern right from wrong simply by observing nature. However, to ensure that no one could claim ignorance, God gave clear instructions to His people.

Later, God inscribed these laws upon our hearts so that no one could say, “We sinned because we did not know.” In legal terms, there is a Latin maxim we often quote among ourselves: “Ignorantia juris non excusat”, which means “Ignorance of the law is not an excuse.”

One of the reasons for the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah was the heinous sin of homosexuality. The men of the city even attempted to assault the angels who visited in human form (Genesis 19). They could not claim ignorance of their wrongdoing; after all, how were they themselves conceived? Nature had already revealed what was right and what was wrong, even before God explicitly gave laws against such acts.

Romans 1:19-20 says: “For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.”

Teach your children to accept their God-given gender and embrace the uniqueness of their identity. Instruct them to respect the opposite sex and understand that it is not okay to desire to become the opposite gender. They should be content with how they were created; male or female. Teach them that God designed marriage to be between a man and a woman. A man cleaves to his wife (a woman), not to another man, neither is it woman cleaving to woman (Matthew 19:4-5). Any attempt to distort God’s natural order is a direct rejection of His Word. It is sin, and sin brings judgment upon those who persist in it. (Romans 6:23)
